Allen Mercer Daniel the first law librarian at Howard University School of Law was born in (Rochester) NY, was raised in Harpers Ferry (WV), and died in Washington, DC.  His parents and maternal grandparents were hotel proprietors in Harpers Ferry.  By April 1910, the family lived at 1618 O Street in Washington, DC.  After his marriage to Portia Bird in October 1910, A. Mercer Daniel and his new bride lived in Washington at 1323 Wallach Place, NW.
