Lexis and Westlaw

Welcome Class of 2023

NOTE:  Instructions along with your unique Lexis and Westlaw registration codes were sent directly to you at your HUSL email address. 

If you did not get an email, please reach out to us at reference@law.howard.edu and we'll be happy to help!

Lexis+

Lexis+ (formerly known as Lexis Advance) is a legal database you will use to find court opinions, statutes, and secondary sources. 

  • Your Lexis+ registration information has been sent to you directly at your HUSL email address.  Follow the instructions provided there to create and register your Lexis+ account here.

 

Lexis Classroom is the course management system we use in LRRWI Research Lab.  You will use it to complete all assignments and exams, and access your grades for Research Lab.

Create your Lexis+ account no later than your first LRRW Writing class on August 18.  

At the start of your first Research Lab on August 20 you will be able to add yourself to your Lexis Classroom course.

Westlaw Edge

Westlaw Edge (formerly known as Westlaw Next) is a legal database you will use to find court opinions, statutes, and secondary sources.

  • Your Westlaw Edge registration information has been sent to you directly at your HUSL email address. Follow the instructions to create and register your Westlaw Edge account here.

 

TWEN  is a course management system that many law faculty use. After creating your Westlaw account, you can access TWEN by following these steps: 

  1. Choose TWEN from the drop-down link at the top of Westlaw's home page.
  2. Click Add A Course at the top of the My Course page. 
  3. Check the box next to the each course you want to add.  
  4. Click Submit to return to the My Courses page.
