Contains rich, comprehensive material found in leading historic periodicals and books. Eyewitness accounts of historical events, vivid descriptions of daily life, editorial observations, commerce as seen through advertisements and genealogical records. Transcribed individual entries are complete with full bibliographic citations and are organized chronologically.

User Guide: Accessible Archives

Archives Unbound
Archives Unbound presents topically-focused digital collections of historical documents that support the research and study needs of scholars and students at the college and university level. Collections in Archives Unbound cover a broad range of topics from the Middle Ages forward-from Witchcraft to World War II to twentieth-century political history. Collections are chosen for Archives Unbound based on requests from scholars, archivists, and students.

Black Studies Center
Black Studies Center is a fully cross-searchable gateway to Black Studies including scholarly essays, recent periodicals, historical newspaper articles, and much more. It combines several resources for research and teaching in Black Studies: Schomburg Studies on the Black Experience, International Index to Black Periodicals (IIBP), historical black newspapers, and the Black Literature Index.
EBSCOhost: America- History & Life
This robust bibliographic database focuses on the history and life of the United States and Canada. It is an important reference tool for students and scholars of U.S. and Canadian history.
Citations and links to book and media reviews are added benefits to the America: History and Life database. It provides strong English-language journal coverage, balanced by an international perspective on topics and events. This includes English abstracts for articles published a variety of languages.
Oxford African American Studies Center
Portal to Oxford's authoritative reference works dealing with the African and African American experience. This continuously expanding database provides access to over 7500 full-text articles from such titles as Africana; African American National Biography; Encyclopedia of African American History, 1619 - 1895; Black Women in America; and the Concise Oxford Companion to African American Literature.
